ABOUT US
With a passion for great food and as long time residents of Carlsbad, we found that the restaurant scene in North County was in need of good restaurants in clean, modern settings.
At Fresh Kitchen Hospitality we have created some of Carlsbad’s most beloved restaurants. Our goal is to offer outstanding food and beverages served in a comfortable setting with warmth and hospitality. Our company was founded by Grant and Jenny Gottesman. While we are not part of The Cohn Restaurant Group, we are proud to have David and Leslie Cohn, and Debra Scott as our partners.
We opened with Tinleaf Fresh Kitchen in 2010, followed by Beach Plum Kitchen in 2014, and then Black Rail Kitchen + Bar in 2019. Our company now also extends beyond the walls of its restaurants by offering full service catering and event spaces, office delivery, home delivery through DoorDash and UberEats. OUR TEAM
Fresh Kitchen Hospitality employees over 150 people, many of whom are children of our guests experiencing their first jobs. Whether they stay with us and build a career or use us as a launching pad for experience, we believe that hiring the right people, training them for excellence, and giving them room to grow is what sets us apart. We take care of our team through competitive wages, tip sharing, flexible schedules, and health insurance.
OUR COMMUNITY
At Fresh Kitchen Hospitality, we work to improve lives inside and outside the walls of our restaurants. We believe that by extending our hospitality to our community, we extend our own culture and business. We are members of The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and we actively support local schools, Surf Rider Foundation, The Mitchell Thorp Foundation, and BroAm to name a few.

OUR DESIGN
Just as important as food, beverage, and hospitality are to a great dining experience, creative design invites you to feel comfortable and welcome. Melissa Young and her talented team of designers at MYStudio Interior Design have taken our vision and created a distinctive space for each of our restaurants by transforming them into elegant, yet comfortable restaurants, each with their own personality.
